Reidar Albrechtsen

There are few researchers in the building with a longer view of the field than Reidar. A specialist in pathology and cytology since 1976, he spent decades as a clinical pathologist at Rigshospitalet, one of Denmark’s leading hospitals, before joining BRIC as Professor Emeritus in 2018. His contributions span DNA sequencing, the production of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, and meticulous expression studies of key extracellular matrix proteins including laminin, tetranectin, and ADAM12.

For the lab, Reidar represents something rare: a scientist who has seen theory become practice across half a century of biomedical research, and who still shows up to push it further.
